Tokyo - Ruling party elders cranked up the behind-the-scenes pressure on Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori yesterday, but the deeply unpopular leader insisted he would stay on. Mr Mori denied a report claiming he would announce his resignation as early as next week, saying he would continue in his job to push through government business. "I have no such thought," Mr Mori told the lower house budget committee.
