Thousands of Arab Israelis marched near Israel's main Arab city of Nazareth today, to mark the second anniversary of the Palestinian intifada and commemorate the killing two years ago by Israeli police of 13 members of their community.

Organisers put the turnout at up to 10,000 people. Protestors carried Palestinian flags as they marched towards the centre of the town.

Among the crowd were the families of the 13 demonstrators who were killed in the early days of the Palestinian uprising when clashes broke out with Israeli riot police.

There was only a limited police presence and no trouble was reported.
