Sligo's Sinn Fein mayor, Mr Sean McManus, has called on the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Cowen to stop "insulting the electorate with outlandish claims of Tory eurosceptic financing of the No campaign" for the referendum on the Nice Treaty.
"In evolving the EU into a super-state, there is also a move to establish a single European army which will be dominated by NATO member-states," he told a party conference on the treaty yesterday.
