A band has secured a temporary High Court order preventing a former member making what they claim are false allegations that the band is involved in copyright theft.

Irish pop-art/electronic band Electric Penguins, made up of Paul Murphy and Mark Cummins, secured the order, returnable to next week, from Ms Justice Mary Laffoy against Seán Quinn, who left the band in 2008.

The band claims Mr Quinn has made damaging allegations to people in the music industry that Electric Penguins have been involved in copyright theft and name misuse.

The injunction, granted on an ex parte (one side represented) basis, restrains Mr Quinn, Rathfarnham, Dublin, making allegations of copyright theft, improper name usage, trademark infringement or passing off against the band.
