Former kidnap victim and retired supermarket executive Mr Don Tidey has secured an interlocutory High Court order restraining three Tesco employees and their trade union, Mandate, from picketing his home in Silchester Road, Glenageary, Co Dublin.

The pickets were placed as part of a dispute between Tesco and the employees over redundancy terms in the wake of a decision that they were no longer required to provide security for Mr Tidey at his home. Terms have been agreed with two other workers.

On November 9th, Mr Tidey obtained an interim order against Mr Anthony Burke, Greystones, Co Wicklow; Mr Paul Duggan, Killiney, Dublin, and Mr Martin Boland, Perrystown, Dublin, preventing pickets on his home.

The five provided 24-hour security following his kidnapping by an IRA gang in November 1983. A garda and a member of the Defence Forces were killed during his release in Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.
