The PSNI Chief Constable, Mr Hugh Orde, has insisted that the Provisional IRA were behind the Northern Bank robbery last December.
"Many poeple knew the facts or the realities behind that crime and it was committed by the provisional IRA," he said.
When asked about whether or not the IRA would return to full scale military operations Mr Orde said.
"The have the capacity, they have the capability but I do not think they have the intent. However, we are monitoring it on a daily basis."

On a positive note Mr Orde said "policing rapport we have moved forward hugely".
Mr Orde said "communities are becoming more and more fed up with this [paramilitary criminality] type of behaviour".
Mr Orde made his comments during an interview on Sky News today.
