O2 gains 91,000 Irish customers in three months

Mobile operator O2 said today it had added 91,000 customers in Ireland in the last three months of 2004.

British mobile group mmO2, which owns O2 Ireland, said it is on track to deliver all its main full-year business targets after new contracted subscribers in its key home market hit a record in the third quarter.

In a statement, mmO2 said it gained 1.176 million new customers in the final three months of last year, taking its total subscriber base to 23.2 million.

The company said it added 360,000 customers in Britain, 729,000 in Germany, including 284,000 on a pre-paid contract.

Average revenues from each of the £14.2 million  UK users grew £283 sterling during the period from £282 the previous three months and £264 a year ago.

Average revenues earned from each of the 7.4 million Germans subscribing to its services slipped to €370 from 371 in the second quarter.
