The beaten finalists of the last two years were expertly led by captain Cillian O’Connor.

Offaly were in the ascendancy in the closing stages before Mayo stopped up their work rate with O’Connor converting four points in the final eight minutes.

The Connacht champions will now take on Tyrone in the last four.

Jack McDonnell scored Mayo’s goal after eight minutes with Noel Andrew Graham also finding the net for Offaly, who led 1-08 to 1-06 at the break.

Young Tribesmen advance

Galway 0-10 Longford 1-06:Galway ended any Longford hopes as they ran out narrow winners in their All-Ireland MFC quarter-final at Hyde Park.

The young Tribesmen recovered from their Connacht final defeat to a book a place in the last four.

Peadar O Griofa was the main instigator for Galway in the second period.

Longford’s goal came from Robbie Smith after 45 minutes to put them 1-4 to 0-5 in front.

But O Griofa's move to full-forward was decisive.
