The Northern Ireland Policing Board has appointed a new chief executive, with Adrian Donaldson stepping in to the role.

The Northern Ireland Policing Board has appointed a new chief executive, with Adrian Donaldson stepping in to the role.

Mr Donaldson will take up his role in the New year.

As chief executive of the Policing Board, Mr Donaldson will lead a team of 60 who help the board run smoothly and support members, and head up strategic planning and policy formulation for the organisation

"Policing remains very much in the spotlight with the recent announcement on the process to facilitate future devolution of policing and justice which will be a key piece of business in the coming months," chairman of the Northern Ireland Policing Board, Professor Sir Desmond Rea said.

"Another critical issue is of course current and future police funding so there is no doubt that this is a challenging role."
