Pretoria - Two leading aid agencies (NGOs) yesterday denounced the "corporate inhumanity" of 39 pharmaceutical giants fighting a South African law giving cut-price access to anti-AIDs medicines.

Oxfam and Medicins sans Frontieres spoke out before a court battle opening today between drugs multinationals including Glaxo Wellcome, Merck and Roche and the South African government.

In Pretoria, South Africa's Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) and Confederation of South African Trades Unions (COSATU) organised a vigil last night in support of the government's position. The campaigners have also declared a day of action today to put pressure on the multinational companies.
