The new Master of the Coombe Women's Hospital is Dr Sean Daly. He has left the Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine in the Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, where he was an assistant professor, to take up the post. Before that he was an assistant master at the Coombe and carried out research into the effects of folic acid.
Dr Daly (35) is married to an obstetrician, Dr Carmen Regan, who gave birth to a daughter at the hospital last week. He succeeds Dr Michael Turner, who completed his seven-year term as Master at the end of 1998.
