A post-mortem at the city morgue yesterday morning established that Mr Palangic died from multiple stab wounds.

Gardaí believe he had been living in this country for between 12 and 13 years.

He had been working as a chef in the Blackrock area of south Dublin.

Gardaí at Donnybrook station have appealed for anyone who knew Mr Palangic to come forward.

They are particularly anxious to make contact with people who may have seen him or spoken to him over the past few days and weeks.

Gardaí were last night unable to confirm if Mr Palangic lived alone or with other family members in his Ballsbridge home.

However, it is understood that several members of his family had also lived in the State for some time.
