Gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry into the fatal stabbing of a man after a row began outside a flat at Fatima Mansions on Monday night.

The deceased man has been named today as Mr Douglas McManus, 36 of Fatima Mansions, Dublin. A post-mortem has been completed by Deputy State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.

The inquiry into the killing is being treated by gardaí as a murder investigation. A second man also sustained stab wounds and is being treated at St James’s Hospital. His condition is not thought to be serious.

Three men are believed to have been involved in the fight which started at about 10.30 p.m.

So far no arrests have been made. Gardaí from the detective unit of Kevin Street Garda Station are conducting the inquiry.
