A post mortem is taking place this evening on the body of a 21-year-old Chinese woman found dead in Bray, Co Wicklow this morning.

Gardaí launched a murder hunt following the discovery by a passer-by in an open area at Woodbrook Glen at around 7.30 a.m.

Gardaí believe the woman had been living in Bray for some time and had been studying English at a college in Dublin.

A preliminary examination carried out by the Deputy State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, has shown that the woman was stabbed a number of times. Gardaí believe that no sexual assault took place.

Full post-mortem results will be known later tonight or tomorrow morning, a Garda spokesman said.
