A man accused of murdering his wife in Howth last year has been ordered by Mr Justice Paul Carney to have no contact with a witness on the book of evidence.

Eamonn Lillis (51) will be tried at the Central Criminal Court in January next for the alleged murder of Celine Cawley (46) at their home at Windgate Road, Howth on December 15, 2008.

Paul Greene BL, prosecuting, told the court yesterday (THURS) that the accused had been granted bail on December 30th, 2008. Mr Greene asked that the court order that conditions be varied to prohibit Mr Lillis from having any contact with Miss Jean Tracey.

Roisin Lacey BL, defending, told the court that the defence consented to the variation and the accused was prepared to give an undertaking not to contact the witness. Mr Justice Carney granted the order.

Ms Lacey also told Mr Justice Carney that the defence had "some concerns in relation to the levels of adverse publicity". She said she wanted those concerns to be put on the record at this stage.
