The 19-year-old Co Clare man charged with the murder of his sister was yesterday returned for trial to the Central Criminal Court.

Patrick O'Dwyer of Shrohill, Ennistymon, is charged with the murder of his 17-year old sister, Marguerite, at the family home on November 29th.

On the previous four occasions he was due to attend remand hearings, Mr O'Dwyer was excused as he was being cared for at the Central Mental Hospital.

Yesterday, Mr O'Dwyer made his first appearance in court since December 17th. He was served with the book of evidence.

Insp Kevin Moynihan of Ennis Garda station told Judge Joseph Mangan that Mr O'Dwyer could be returned for trial to the next sittings of the Central Criminal Court.

Solicitor for Mr O'Dwyer, Jim Finnegan, made an application to the court for legal aid for medical evidence as he said medical witnesses will be required in the case. Mr Finnegan also sought legal aid for one senior and one junior counsel to represent Mr O'Dwyer in the Central Criminal Court. Both applications were granted.

Members of Mr O'Dwyer's family have been present at each of the remand hearings.
