A motorcylist (33) has been killed in a road crash in Co Antrim.

A motorcylist (33) has been killed in a road crash in Co Antrim.

The victim's bike collided with a Toyota car on the Doagh Road in Newtownabbey. Detectives investigating the accident have urged any witnesses to contact them.

Earlier, a man (19) died in hospital after his motorbike collided with a van in Bangor, Co Down. Neither of the victims' names were released.

The deaths brings to 72 the number of people killed on Northern Ireland's roads this year. Of those, 12 were motorcyclists, with another pillion passenger also killed.

A girl (11) is fighting for her life after being knocked down in Do Down. The child's younger sister was also injured in the accident between Millisle and Ballywalter.

The girls were walking along the Whitechurch Road when a car driver lost control and struck them yesterday. The older sister was described as critically ill in hospital; the eight-year-old was said to be comfortable.
