A woman with 10 children has become the latest Irish Euromillions winner.

The woman in her 50s bought the €875,321 ticket at Tierney’s Roxboro Stores, Roxboro Road, Limerick, on Friday, the day of the Europe-wide lottery draw.

She matched five numbers and one of two lucky star numbers. She runs her own food delivery business, is married and lives on the south side of Limerick city.

Ann Roche, who runs Tierney’s Roxboro Stores, said she was given the good news by a National Lottery executive on Friday night.

“We’re thrilled. It’s the first time we’ve sold a winning Euromillions ticket,” she said.

“The woman from the lottery said she had great news, that we had sold the second prize, and that she was thrilled.” Staff at the same shop sold a €4 million winning Lotto ticket in May 2010 “but never found out who won it in the end”, Ms Roche said.

On this occasion the winner has been in to the shop to confirm her identity.

“Yes, the person who won came into us,” Ms Roche added. “We are absolutely thrilled for them. They have a lovely family and deserve the win. Unless they want to go public we can’t say who it is. I can tell you that it was a €9 mixed ticket.”

The winning ticket in the draw for Friday night’s Euromillions jackpot of €26,670,951 was sold in the UK.
