A mother of six children was alleged in court yesterday to have sexually abused her son when he was seven years of age.

The 33-year-old woman, who cannot be named to protect the boy's identity, was charged at Belfast Magistrates Court with aiding and abetting buggery, gross indecency and indecent assault.

Opposing bail, prosecutor Ms Donna McColgan said the boy, now aged 12, told relatives last week that he had been abused between March 1994 and April 1995.

Resident Magistrate Mr Daniel Magill remanded the woman in custody until September 3rd.
