Portmarnock’s Adrian Morrow and Brian McElhinney of North West in Donegal share the early clubhouse lead on the second day of the East of Ireland Open Championship at County Louth Golf Club today.

Morrow shot a bogey free four under par 69 for a two under 144 total while McElhinney carded a two under 71 to go with yesterday’s level par 73.

The pair have a one shot lead over Royal Dublin’s Niall Lavin who matched Morrow’s 69.Killarney's Dan Sugrue is two further back in fourth on 147 after his one under 72.

Three times champion, Garth McGimpsey, made much improvement when taking advantage of the calmer conditions on the second day.The Bangor man followed yesterday’s 79 with a two under 71 for a four over 150 total.

The 1999 winner and one of the overnight leaders, Ken Kearney, was one over for nine holes and level par overall with nine holes still to play.
