Minister for Sport John O'Donoghue is expecting a report early this week into the sacking of Bord na gCon chief executive, Aidan Tynan, following a row over failed greyhound doping tests.
The Minister has written to the chairman of Bord na gCon, Paschal Taggart, seeking an urgent report into the incidents and Mr O'Donoghue will be making no comment until he has received and considered that report.
The Minister first became aware of the pending controversy last Wednesday, on his return from an official visit to India.
He received a letter from Mr Tynan detailing his concerns over the refusal of his board to publish details of two incidents in which greyhounds were given performance-enhancing drugs.
Mr O'Donoghue wrote immediately to Mr Taggart seeking a report but the following day Mr Tynan was dismissed as chief executive.
Mr Taggart said the sacking was not related to Mr Tynan's decision to inform the Minister of the board's decision not to publish details of the hearing into the doping of two greyhounds.
