Los Angeles - US authorities yesterday charged two leaders of a Jewish militant group with plotting to bomb a series of high-profile Islamic or Arab-American targets in Los Angeles.

The plot was thwarted when the chairman of the Jewish Defence League (JDL) Mr Irv Rubin (56) and another JDL leader Mr Earl Krugel were arrested on Tuesday in a raid by anti-terrorism officers after an informant alerted inquiries.

The two were allegedly planning to blow up The King Fahd mosque in the Culver City area, the offices of the Muslim Public Affairs Council in Los Angeles and the offices of Arab-American Congressman Darrell Issa, he said.
