Mexico City - Mexico's "trial of the century" is to conclude this week, with a judge to rule whether Mr Raul Salinas de Gortari is guilty in the murder of a prominent politician.

Mr Salinas, a brother of the former president, Mr Carlos Salinas, was arrested and jailed in February 1995 for masterminding the 1994 murder of Mr Francisco Ruiz Massieu, his brother-in-law and secretary-general of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party. He has maintained his innocence.

Mr Carlos Salinas now lives in Dublin.
