Two men appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday following a £500,000 drugs seizure at the weekend. Mr William Dick (44) and Mr Frederick Corbett (43) both from Salia Avenue, Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, were charged with possessing cannabis resin and having it with intent to supply.
The drugs were recovered from a cabin cruiser on Saturday soon after it arrived in Carrickfergus from Portpatrick in Scotland. Solicitors for Mr Dick and Mr Corbett said they had been paid £500 and £250 respectively to make the trip and were not the prime movers in the operation. They were remanded in custody.
