"All options" will be canvassed in the next two weeks to resolve difficulties surrounding the extradition of Ms Roisin McAliskey to Germany, a court in London was told yesterday. During a four-minute hearing at Bow Street Magistrates' Court, the magistrate, Mr Nicholas Evans, agreed to adjourn until October 23rd so that a "resolution" could be found to the problem of bringing Ms McAliskey to the court.

Last week Mr Evans agreed to extradite Ms McAliskey but refused to sign the papers in her absence. Ms McAliskey, who is facing extradition in connection with a mortar attack on a British army base in Germany, is being held on conditional bail at the Maudsley Psychiatric Hospital in London. One of the options being discussed is for a magistrate to visit Ms McAliskey in hospital to inform her that the extradition has been agreed. Alternatively, Ms McAliskey's supporters have suggested a video link could be set up between the hospital and the court to facilitate the extradition.
