GAA round-up:Mayo took full advantage of Dublin's defeat in Cork last night to move top of Division One in the Allianz National Football league. All three sides now have eight points with Mayo holding the superior points difference after their 1-12 to 1-10 win over Kerry this afternoon.

Conor Mortimer proved the difference between the sides at Tralee, the Mayo substitute firing over four points from play to open a comfortable advantage. The home side were given a glimmer of hope when Kieran O'Leary found the net late on but it was to prove a mere consolation.

Tyrone’s relegation problems continued as they succumbed to a third defeat of the year, going down 1-15 to 0-14 to Galway at Pearse Stadium. Eight points from the boot of Martin Penrose couldn’t save Mickey Harte’s side who now have just one win from four.

Derry are also in trouble as they were soundly beaten by Ulster rivals Monaghan, a Tommy Freeman goal applying the gloss to a 1-16 to 0-12 win for the Farney County.

Dublin came unstuck in Páirc Uí Rinn on Saturday night as they were dispatched 2-13 to 2-6 by Cork. The Rebels, with first half goals from Daniel Goulding and Paul Kerrigan, were never likely to be caught as Dublin managed just two scores after the interval, even if one of those scores was a Bernard Brogan goal.

In the National Hurling League, a free-scoring match at Walsh Park ended honours even as Waterford and Cork finished 2-20 to 3-17. Cork had appeared on course to maintain their 100 per cent record after Ben O’Connor edged his side in front.

But Waterford’s Eoin Kelly, who would finish with a personal tally of 1-17, held his nerve with a 20 metre free to claim a share of the spoils at the death.

Kilkenny, after two defeats on the bounce, kick-started their season with a 2-21 to 0-23 success over Dublin at Parnell Park. The win for Brian Cody’s side was tempered somewhat by an injury to Richie Power.

Elsewhere, Tipperary heaped further pressure on Justin McCarthy’s Limerick who slumped to a crushing 2-24 to 0-8 defeat at the Gaelic Grounds. McCarthy’s future will be up for discussion once more at an emergency meeting of the county board on Tuesday evening
