Having already hosted the superb Cat Laughs Comedy Festival and the rock-solid Rhythm 'n' Roots Festival, the City of Kilkenny is gearing up for yet another extravaganza of entertainment, the Kilkenny Arts Festival 2000.
Market Yard will be the focal point of this weekend's festivities, because Poland's Teatr Osmego Dnia will be holding a Summit there each night at 10pm.
Theatre highlights include Donal O'Kelly's Bat The Father, Rabbit The Son and Gare St. Lazare's production of Beckett's Malone Dies; must-see musicans include Mercury Music Prize-nominated English folkie, Kate Rusby, and The Quartet JAMS, featuring four of jazz music's finest exponents. Punk poet John Cooper Clarke will recite some of his best-known work, which includes Kung Fu International and I Married A Monster From Outer Space.
