Manchester United said today it had received a detailed proposal from US entrepreneur Mr Malcolm Glazer which may lead to a takeover offer.
"The board can now confirm that it has received a detailed proposal subject to various preconditions which may form the basis of an offer for Manchester United from Glazer," Manchester United said in a statement.
Sources said last week Mr Glazer was working with investment bank Rothschild on a potential £800 million bid.
