A man has pleaded guilty to the attempted abduction of a teenage Offaly girl. At Mullingar Circuit Court, Dermot Murphy (42), Tramore, Co Waterford, admitted attempted false imprisonment and assault causing harm.
He also admitted attempted child trafficking in trying to restrict the girl’s liberty for sexual exploitation at Ferbane, Co Offaly, on July 19th.
He was arrested following reports that a man in a white van had pulled up beside the 13-year-old and tried to pull her into the van. She managed to escape following a struggle. The case was adjourned to February for sentencing.
