The incident happened shortly before 3 a.m. when a man wearing a balaclava and carrying a shotgun knocked on the door of a house at Primrose Grove Darndale.

The owner of the house, answered the door and a number of shots were fired. The man was injured in the arm and leg and taken to Beaumont Hospital, where his condition was said not to be life threatening. Gardai said the man was expected to be released from hospital within three days.
