A man was remanded in custody today charged with a robbery and assault in which a woman had two fingers cut off at an apartment complex in Dublin.

James Kenny (24) from Eden Block, Prospect Hill, Finglas, north Dublin, was charged over the attack on the woman in the same apartment complex on September 2nd.

Artist Asta Digimaite was robbed and attacked in her home. During the attack, two of her fingers were severed, and she later underwent surgery to have them reattached.

An Apple laptop worth €3,000, a mobile phone worth €200 and an wireless USB modem worth €100 were snatch during the theft, according to the Courts Service.

Kenny (24) was remanded to in prison to reappear at Cloverhill Courthouse next week.
