A man (18) arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Blanchardstown, west Dublin, has today been remanded in prison.

Christopher Emmet, a 21-year-old father of two from Blanchardstown, was fatally wounded when a legally held shotgun was discharged in the living room of his family home in Fortlawn Park at about 4am.

Gardaí arrested two men, aged 18 and 23, shortly after the shooting, both of whom were among a group drinking in the house when Mr Emmet was shot. A third man aged 24 was arrested just before lunchtime on Tuesday.

Craig Mullarney (18) with an address at  34 Sheepmore Ave, Clonsilla, was charged in connection with the crime earlier today and appeared at Blanchardstown District Court this morning.

The two other men questioned about the shooting have been released without charge and a file sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
