Gardaí investigating the death of a man (19) in a hit-and-run in south Dublin this morning are looking for drivers who may have witnessed the incident.

The man was hit on the Dundrum Road between the junctions with Bird Avenue and Mulvey Park shortly after 5am. He was found with serious injuries and taken to St Vincent's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives said this afternoon they want to talk to the occupants of a bin lorry with a red cab, blue body with a white square containing the company logo.

They are also looking for the drivers or passengers of a dark grey taxi and a wine-coloured Landrover Freelander or any other person who may have been driving in the area at the time.

"These vehicles may have been in the Windy Arbour area of Dundrum in the early hours of this morning at between 5am and 6am," the Garda press office said.
