A man has died after being hit by two cars in north Dublin inner city early this morning.

A man has died after being hit by two cars in north Dublin inner city early this morning.

The  male pedestrian, who was in his 50s, was seriously injured when he was struck by two cars on Parnell Square West near the junction with Parnell Street in Dublin at about 12.15am this morning..

He was taken to the Mater hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The drivers of the two cars were uninjured.

The road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators, but it has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact Store Street Garda station on 01-6668000, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
