Man held as two boys killed in Antrim crash

A man was arrested today in connection with the death of two teenagers in acar crash in Co Antrim.

The 32-year-old driver of the car which crashed was interviewed in hospital where he is being treatedfor his injuries. He was then released on bail.

Gavin O'Neill (16) and David McAuley (15) were rear seat passengers in a white Ford Escort Cosworth that hit a wall on the Marine Road in Carnlough early this morning.

One boy was killed instantly and the second died later despite efforts by members of the public to save him.

The driver of the car and the 17-year-old front seat passenger were both injured in the crash and brought to hospital.

The PSNI have appealed for witnesses to the incident.

They are especially interested in speaking to the driver or occupants of a black Peugeot 205 that was seen in the area at the time of the crash.

The deaths bring the total number of people killed on Northern Ireland's roadsto 106 this year.
