A WATERFORD man has been Jailed for seven years for the rape of a 37 year old mother of four children.
Mr Justice Shanley, at the Central Criminal Court, said the 46 year old sales representative's offence was an "extremely sordid, brutal sexual assault that was unsolicited and unwanted".
He was found guilty of oral rape and of sexually assaulting her on July 17th, 1994, in his house in Waterford.
"While there was no physical violence involved, there was extreme emotional violence which has caused serious psychological damage to his victim. But for the support offered to her by her husband and others her marriage could have been destroyed," Mr Justice Shanley said.
