The man whose body was discovered in Galway Bay this morning has been named as Daniel Nee, from Cashel in Connemara.
Gardai were alertedby a worker on Mutton Island who spotted the body floating in water at around 6.00 am.
A garda spokesman said the body may have been in the water for some time.
It was taken by lifeboat to University College Galway Hospital for post mortem examination.
