On Tuesday, he visited the public gallery in the Dáil, from where he expected to see Minister McDowell answer questions regarding his son's death.

Instead the junior Minister, Mr Ivor Callery, was sent to the debate.

It later emerged that Minister McDowell had been in the Dáil bar at the time.

Mr Moynihan later said he felt "degraded"

Following widespread media coverage of Mr McDowell's abscence, the Minister met Mr Moynihan outside the Dáil on Tuesday night and later pursued Adrian's case with Garda Commissioner Mr Pat Byrne.
