A man has been arrested after he discarded a firearm from a vehicle he was driving in the Tallaght area last night.
The incident occurred at Ballinscorney Road at approximately 11.30 pm.
Gardai in Terenure arrested the man after he stopped the car. They also recovered the discarded firearm.
The man, who is in his mid-30s, was brought to Terenure Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
