A man will appear in a Belfast court today on charges linked to an arms find in east Belfast.

It followed the seizure of 10 guns and up to 1,500 rounds of ammunition in a house in east Belfast during RUC searches on Tuesday night.

The haul, including eight handguns, an assault rifle, a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition, two magazines, two items of body armour, gloves and balaclavas, was found in Templemore Close off Castlereagh Road by police inquiring into a hijacking in the area earlier.

The 41-year-old man is due before Belfast Magistrates Court this morning charged with having firearms and ammunition and with having articles likely to be of use to terrorists.
