A man has been charged in connection with the seizure of five pipe bombs and a large quantity of ammunition at a house in Co Antrim last night.

The 22-year-old man was arrested during a search in Carmeen Drive in the Whitehouse area of Newtownabbey.
British army technical officers carried out eight controlled explosions to make safe the viable devices found at the home.

The man was charged tonight with possession of explosives with the intent to endanger life, possession of ammunition in suspicious circumstances, possession of prohibited weapons and possession of counterfeit currency.

He is due to appear in court in Belfast tomorrow.
