A man was arrested for questioning today about an attack on a teenager who had to have his leg amputated after being shot in Belfast.

The man (47) is being questioned about the attack on Conor Weldon (18), who was attacked on the Falls Road early on Saturday.

Two men approached him at Ard Na Va, and punched him to the ground. One of the men took out a gun and shot him in the leg, police said.

Relatives of the victim recently told a Belfast newspaper the teenager had tried to take his own life last week after thugs beat him with hammers.
