Man admits to unlawful killing

A Dublin man at the Central Criminal Court yesterday pleaded guilty to unlawfully killing a man by stabbing him in the heart

A Dublin man at the Central Criminal Court yesterday pleaded guilty to unlawfully killing a man by stabbing him in the heart. Mr Christopher Boylan (32), of St Michael's Estate, Inchicore, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Mr Jason Ryan, of Harelawn Park, Clondalkin, Dublin, on Christmas night nearly two years ago.

The High Court previously heard during a bail application that Mr Ryan was standing with a group of friends in Clondalkin on Christmas night when the accused pulled up in a car. A "digging match" broke out and Mr Ryan ran away shouting: "You have stabbed me in the heart, you bastard."

Det Sgt Gerard Kelly previously told the court that Boylan replied: "The next time I see you I'll carve my name on your chest." Mr Ryan collapsed and was dead on arrival at hospital.

Mr Patrick MacEntee SC, defending, told the court that Boylan was on medication.
