George Malone, a lorry driver who defrauded Dublin Corporation of £21,000, leaving the Circuit Criminal Court in Dublin yesterday. He gave perjured evidence during a 1991 High Court personal injuries action and was remanded on bail to October 30th.

His defence counsel, Mr Tom O'Connell, told the court his client needed time to sell some property. Malone (58), of Woodford Court, Clondalkin, admitted that in a case he brought against the corporation, he falsely testified under oath that he fell into a hole at Colepark Avenue, Ballyfermot on November 25th, 1987. Full evidence of the offence will be heard at the sentence hearing.
