One of the men accused of the murder of Limerick bouncer Brian Fitzgerald in 2002 was found not guilty at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin today.

Mr Justice Peter Charleton directed the jury of twelve men to acquit John Dundon (27) of Ballinacurra Weston, Co Limerick of the murder.

Mr Dundon was charged in connection with the murder of Mr Fitzgerald in the early hours of November 29th 2002 at Brookhaven Walk, Mill Road, Corbally, Limerick.

Mr Justice Charleton said he had reached his decision after considering the evidence of the chief prosecution witness, James Martin Cahill, who told the court the Mr Dundon was not present at the time of the murder.

Three other men, Gary Campion (24) of Pineview Gardens, Moyross, Mr Dundon's brother Desmond (23) Ballinacurra Weston, Co Limerick and Clare business man Anthony Kelly (50) with an address at Killrush all remain on trial.

Mr Justice Charleton told the jury that the acquittal of Mr Dundon did not affect the trials of the other men.
