Man (27) remanded over Waterford shooting

A man charged in connection with the shooting of a teenage girl in Waterford earlier this week has been remanded in custody.

A man charged in connection with the shooting of a teenage girl in Waterford earlier this week has been remanded in custody.

Patrick Stokes (27), of Ardmore Park, Ballybeg, appeared at Waterford District Court charged under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997 with assault causing harm in Waterford city on Monday.

He also appeared on firearms charges.

Bridget Delaney (16) was shot at a halting site at a halting site in Bilberry just after 10.30pm on Monday.

Mr Stokes was arrested on Wednesday afternoon and held at Ballybricken Garda station for questioning.

Judge William Earley granted free legal aid. Mr Stokes will appear before the court again next Thursday.
