Athens - Hundreds of American holidaymakers were stranded in Greece yesterday waiting for a magistrate to release the 1970s television icon The Love Boat after it was impounded in a drugs bust. Police and harbour officials said few of the 616 passengers aboard P&O's Pacific Princess had left for home after the incident, but the magistrate's investigation could take a week or more to finish.

The Pacific Princess, ocean-going "star" of the smash 1970s television show, was seized in Piraeus harbour last Thursday after 25 kg of heroin was found on board. The drugs were discovered after the ship had sailed to Greece from Turkey on a two-week cruise. Four people, including two crew members, were arrested outside the ship while making a drug deal. Police said yesterday the crew members were being held but the others had been released on bail.
