Freddie Ljungberg inspired vibrant Arsenal to a valuable 3-1 victory over Juventus in the Champions League at Highbury tonight.

The in-form Swede gave Arsenal the lead after 21 minutes. Thierry Henry then doubled the advantage seven minutes later with a superb free kick.

Juventus got back into the game four minutes after the break when Arsenal's rookie goalkeeper Stuart Taylor inadvertently deflected the ball into his own net.

But Ljungberg netted again with two minutes remaining by flicking home Arsenal's third after some wizardry by Dennis Bergkamp.

The victory made it four wins out of four at home in this year's competition for Arsene Wenger's team, who have also lost all four of their away games.

Like Juventus, Arsenal have three points from their two matches

Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen bounced back from two successive defeats to beat Deportivo La Coruna.

Leverkusen were beaten 4-0 by Juventus last Thursday in their Champions League Group D opener and also suffered their first Bundesliga loss of the season at the weekend.

But Ze Roberto, Oliver Neuville and Michael Ballack scored within 15 second-half minutes to put their European campaign back on track.

Raul fired Real Madrid three points clear at the top of Group C as they beat Panathinaikos 3-0.

The Spain striker scored two goals in four second-half minutes to extend Real's 100 per cent start to the second phase.

Ivan Helguera gave Madrid the half-time lead before Raul struck.

Sparta Prague bounced back from last month's home defeat to Real by winning 1-0 at Sparta Prague.

Libor Sionko headed the winning goal 14 minutes from time as Porto goalkeeper Paulo Santos helped the ball into the net.

The victory leaves Porto, who drew their opening game at Panathinaikos last month, facing an uphill battle to qualify for the quarter-finals.
