Downing Street has announced that three prominent figures in Northern Ireland are to be made life peers.
They are Mr John Laird, visiting professor of public relations at the University of Ulster, and former Stormont MP for the UUP; Mr Dennis Rogan, chairman of the UUP, and Ms May Blood, the well-known community worker from Belfast's Shankill Road.
