Monrovia - Liberia's President Charles Taylor said last night that dissidents operating from neighbouring Guinea had invaded his country and occupied a border town.

The announcement came as the British Foreign Office confirmed that three British citizens working for the UK based medical charity, Merlin, had been kidnapped. They were named as midwife Ms Sara Nam (30), from Carmarthen, Wales, transport specialist Mr David Heed (26), from Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, and Dr Mike Roe (33) from London.
